I led the mechanical design of a 3U CubeSat structure as part of the development of Quetzal-2, the second satellite mission at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG). The design process adhered to Cal Poly CubeSat Design Specifications to ensure launch compatibility and orbital deployment readiness. I conducted extensive FEA simulations to validate structural integrity under launch loads. The components were optimized for CNC manufacturing following a DFM process. The manufacturing was planed with the CAM programming ready for machining. Functional prototypes were also produced using resin-based 3D printing to verify fit, assembly, and subsystem integration. This structure now serves as the foundational platform for ongoing satellite development at UVG, supporting Guatemala’s continued participation in space technology initiatives.
